Conditions on campus in Staunton this morning allow Mary Baldwin College to remain open October 30. Local conditions may be different for those who commute to campus, and college officials urge everyone to exercise appropriate caution if they must travel and to make safety a top priority. Students and staff of regional centers should check with those offices if unsure about their status.

Mary Baldwin College’s main campus in Staunton remains open today, Monday, October 29. Centers in Richmond, Charlottesville, Glenns, Greensville/Emporia, Kilmarnock, Warsaw, Williamsburg, and Weyers Cave are closed.The Roanoke Center will close at 4:30 p.m. and all night classes are cancelled.

Weather experts are predicting that Staunton and Augusta County will be spared the worst effects of Hurricane Sandy. As always, we encourage members of our community to make personal safety a priority. The MBC community should monitor email and MBC News for further instruction.

Security, physical plant and dining services departments have coordinated the necessary resources to provide emergency electric power for essential facilities, adequate food and drinking water for resident students, and security and physical plant personnel to insure the safety of our campus should conditions require an emergency response. We will continue to monitor the storm forecast through the weekend and provide additional information to you as conditions change.
