How to get a QuickTime Video to load in PowerPoint

Once you have inserted the video into PowerPoint perform the following steps to allow the video play without QuickTime being installed on the PC.

The below steps will not work for a mp4 file.  To fun a mp4 in PowerPoint, click here for steps to use Winodows Media Player.

  1. Select the File tab from the Menu Bar.
  2. Select the Info Tab on the left.
  3. Click on the Optimize Compatibility button.
  4. Click Close button when complete.

 

How to get an embedded video to work in PowerPoint

  1. Open PowerPoint
  2. Click Developer Tab
    (Click here if you do not have the Developer Tab)

  3. Click the More Controls Button

  4. Scroll down to Windows Media Play and click OK

  5. Use the cursor to create the Media Player  display

  6. Right Click Media Play and select Properties

  7. Enter URL or file location of the video that needs to be inserted.

Insert Developer Tab

  1. Click File > Options
  2. Select Customize Ribbon in Left Menu Bar
  3. In Right Select Window “Main Tabs”, check the Developer Box
  4. Click OK

 Find File Location Link

  1. Click Windows Start Button WindowsStartButton >Computer
  2. Navigate to File location
  3. Click in Address Bar and “\” at the end of the line >enter file name (do not hit enter)
