Comments About President Fox
Best administrator I've ever worked with. . . . I've never encountered
a more gifted academic administrator. . . . She's a consensus builder.
These were among the comments we heard about Dr. Pamela Fox in our
initial Search Committee inquiries. When we actually met with Dr.
Fox, I realized that we had met a woman who not only had an exceptionally
strong track record as a teacher and scholar in musicology but also
was widely recognized as a skillful, collegial, and highly energetic
leader. So many individuals noted that Dr. Fox was able to view the
big picture: not only advocating for her department or the School
of Fine Arts but also energetically working on behalf of the entire
university. Apart from the sheer breadth (and obvious success) of
her experiences in administration and college leadership, I was struck
by her genuine love of the liberal arts and interdisciplinary teaching
methods and by her clear understanding of the unique status of a
small woman’s college and the key role for academic entrepreneurship
and programmatic innovation.
I am very much looking forward to Dr. Fox’s presidency.

Dr. Roderic L. Owen, Professor of Philosophy
Dr. Fox's career to date has demonstrated strong commitment to the
liberal arts and impressive administrative leadership and vision.
She understands Mary Baldwin's many strengths as well as the challenges
that face the college. I am confident that the excellent leadership
we have seen under Dr. Tyson will continue with Dr. Fox’s presidency.
— Dr. Anne McGovern, Associate Professor of French
Dr. Fox's warm presence and friendly smile put anyone at ease whether
a student or a faculty member. She shows a deep understanding of
and appreciation for Mary Baldwin and the mission of educating women
while at the same time expressing an ambitious spirit and the wisdom
to take Baldwin to the next level.
