The Office of Sponsored Programs and Undergraduate Research was established in 2001 through a grant from the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development’s Extramural Associates Program (Enhancing Research Participation at Mary Baldwin College, Lydia Petersson, Ph.D., Principal Investigator, grant # 5G11HD37064).
Between 2004-11, NICHD provided $146,221 in pilot support for 16 projects, involving 15 different MBC faculty and 18 undergraduate collaborators. Disciplines represented included biology (three faculty, nine students); chemistry (two faculty, three students); psychology/communication (three faculty, three students); mathematics (one faculty, one student); sociology (two faculty, one student); health care administration (one faculty); physical education (one faculty, one student); and art (two faculty). NICHD support concluded in 2012.
