- Design an original senior thesis. Alumna Devon Chenette’s research on the effect of miRNA-145 on p53 activation in estrogen-receptor-negative breast cancer cells has potential implications for molecular cancer therapies.
- Present your research at national and international conferences such as the Shenandoah Undergraduate Mathematics and Statistics conference, the Eastern Psychological Association, and psychology conferences in Portugal and the Netherlands.
- Intern at Western State Hospital, the Virginia Institute of Autism, or the Staunton Police Department's forensics team.
- Hit the road and study neotropical ornithology in Costa Rica, ecology at Duke University Marine Laboratory, or freshwater biology at Lewis Creek in Staunton.
- Refine your chemistry studies by focusing on materials chemistry, one of the fastest-growing career areas.
- Take advantage of Mary Baldwin’s dual-degree programs partnerships with other universities, including an engineering and computer science program through University of Virginia, physics studies through Washington and Lee, and a nursing partnership with Vanderbilt University.
- Join an honor society: Beta Beta Betafor biology, Iota Sigma Pi for chemistry, Sigma Pi Sigma for physics, or Psi Chi for psychology.
