Bertie Deming Smith arrived in Staunton in 1942, at the tender age of 16, and found an environment that encouraged her to become a responsible, caring, and intellectually curious adult. Through the years Mrs. Smith has been a steadfast supporter of the Annual Fund. She has a strong conviction that Annual Fund gifts will help Mary Baldwin remain a leading college for educating outstanding women, attracting the best students and faculty.
