Students of sociology thrive on the study of society and the improvement of the human condition. At MBC, the major focuses on understanding and finding answers, providing students with a firm foundation in the social sciences. Sociology professors maintain an open door policy and often work side by side with students in community outreach. Students also receive the opportunity to develop professionally through organized internships.
Students can pursue a BA with a major in sociology. A sociology major can also be combined with studies in both anthropology and psychology. Sociology also is available as a minor.
Sociology is a part of MBC’s School of Social Sciences, Business, and Global Studies and is available through the College for Women in Staunton and through the Adult Degree Program in Charlottesville, Rappahannock, Richmond, Roanoke, South Boston, Staunton, Weyers Cave, and Williamsburg.
