Requirements for the Major in Arts Management (51–58 semester hours)

Economics (3 semester hours): ECON 101 required (ECON 102 is strongly recommended, especially for students planning to pursue graduate studies in Business Administration).

Communication (6 semester hours): COMM 100 and COMM 260.

Business Administration (12 semester hours): BUAD 200, BUAD 210, BUAD 211, and BUAD 230.

Arts Management (30 semester hours): Beyond the core courses in Arts Management, the student must complete a concentration in one of the three areas below, according to the listed requirements. The student must also complete 3 semester hours in each of the other two areas of concentration.

  • Concentration in Art: Students select 6 semester hours from ART 101, ART 102, or ART 103; 9 semester hours from any 200- or 300-level art history courses; ARTM/ART 340; ARTM 387; INT 103, Information Literacy (1.s.h.); a course in Studio Art; an additional elective in studio art or art history; and ART 400. (3 semester hours of technical writing are encouraged but not required).
  • Concentration in Music: MUS 100, MUS 111, and at least 12 credits of music electives, including at least two 3-credit music courses at the 200 level. NOTE: A music minor is also recommended for this concentration.
  • Concentration in Theatre: THEA/ENG 114 or ENG/THEA 115; THEA 101 or THEA 208; three semester hours in theatre literature or history; three semester hours in theatre techniques; six additional semester hour electives.
