Department of

Education Graduates

"Mary Baldwin College's Teacher Education Program has allowed me to gain confidence in teaching my subject area, and has set high expectations for me as a teacher candidate. The skills that the professors have passed on to me have prepared me to be ready and excited about having my own classroom."

"The Mary Baldwin College Teacher Education Program has had a tremendous impact on my philosophy of teaching. With the guidance of the faculty, I have been able to incorporate my own ideas and values into effective teaching strategies for the classroom."

Dara K. Young '07
I am starting my career as a 7th grade life science teacher for Belmont Ridge Middle School in Loudoun County. There are many opportunities for new teachers in Northern Virginia, and Mary Baldwin's Education Program provides a helpful competitive edge in landing the job that's right for you.

"I went to W&L and traveled to MBC for education certification. My education classes helped me in very practical ways; how to create a unit, how to write a lesson plan, how to create a portfolio, all of which have contributed to a successful teaching career for me so far."

Jennifer Lalley
I am currently teaching 6th and 7th grade history at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, GA. I also coach the JV girls lacrosse team.

"The education department was one of my biggest draws to MBC. I met several of the professors on a visit and immediately felt comfortable with them. This continued for my four years at MBC. The program is structured very well with plenty of opportunity to be in the classroom and put to practice theories we were learning in class."
