The undergraduate Residential College for Women (RCW) and the co-ed undergraduate Adult Degree Program (ADP)
Both the Residential College for Women and the Adult Degree Program offer a minor in education that leads to both the bachelor's degree and teacher licensure at the elementary, middle, or secondary level.
Students in both RCW and ADP have the opportunity to take advantage of the five-year program, BA/MAT. Five years of specified study can lead to a student achieving both a bachelor of arts and a Master of Arts in Teaching.
PBTL is for men and women with baccalaureate degrees seeking an initial teaching license as a first-career choice or as a career change. This program leads to teacher licensure only.
MAT is designed for licensed teachers or for those who hold a baccalaureate degree and wish to earn an initial teaching license at the elementary or middle school level or in PK-12 special education.
The Master of Education Degree (MEd) is designed to further the careers of professional educators, whether already licensed and teaching in the K-12 classroom or working in other positions related to the field of education. The four areas of concentration offered by MEd designed to help you, the educator, better meet the needs of students, whether in a typical K-12 classroom, a nature center or museum context, or other educational setting.
The MLitt teaching concentration is designed to further the education of students that desire to teach Shakespeare and/or Renaissance literature in the classroom. Although not a program that leads to teacher licensure, the MLitt offers a unique opportunity for a student to actually work with Shakespearean scholars and professionals and with American Shakespeare Center's Blackfriars Playhouse.
