Study Abroad in France
Every other year the department offers a May Term course in Paris focusing on theater in French. Our next May Term in Paris is planned for 2011. Students improve their French through the immersion experience of a homestay with a French family. Mornings are spent in class as we study the plays we will be seeing in different theaters around Paris – classical, avant-garde, popular, infamous, comic, tragic; we’ll explore different genres and styles in a single course.
Students interested in a summer, semester or year-long academic experience in a Francophone country can consult with faculty members in French as well as the Spencer Center. Most study abroad programs can afford opportunities to meet common curriculum requirements for graduation as well as to earn several credits towards the major in French.
