Academics at MBC
Graduates
"Throughout my four years in the Health Care Administration program at Mary Baldwin, Dr. Mosher served as my academic advisor, taught courses in the program, provided support throughout my two administrative internships, and helped me navigate the graduate school application process. The small class size in the program emphasized personalized instruction, the curriculum provided an excellent foundation for graduate work in the field, and the required internship component provided priceless real-world experiences prior to graduation."
Mindy Wyttenbach-Lindsey, PhD '97
After graduating
from Mary Baldwin, Mindy attended graduate school at the Johns Hopkins University
School of Public Health where she earned a masters degree in health finance
and management in 1999. Following this, she earned a PhD in health services
organization and research from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College
of Virginia in 2005. Currently, Mindy serves as the executive director of the
Department of Internal Medicine at VCU Health System in Richmond, VA.
"I was a working mom in the healthcare field and driving 60 miles to attend night classes in Richmond. One day I received a flyer in the mail at work about the Health Care Administration Program at Mary Baldwin and was intrigued when I learned that I could enroll in the adult degree program. The program allowed me to finish my degree in healthcare and still have quality time with my family - then doors began to open for me that I never dreamed were even there!"
Rebecca S. Jessie '99
Director, Quality Improvement & Patient Safety for Rockingham Memorial
Hospital.
For 10 years I worked for a small community hospital as an HR Assistant
and later as a business manager. Within a month of completing my
degree I was offered a position with a state hospital in the field of
quality improvement. I've been with Rockingham Memorial Hospital for the last six
years and have been promoted twice within the quality department. The
combined experience and education gave me the background to publish a book
within my field of hospital accreditation. I am currently working
on my MBA with a concentration in healthcare through Salve Regina University
in Rhode Island.
“The health care program at Mary Baldwin College was a wonderful beginning to a career in the field of health care for me for many reasons. The program established a solid set of professional skills and developed those skills over my course of study at MBC. The opportunities for internships and career development were endless with support from Dr. Mosher and his colleagues. My entire first year of graduate school was a repeat of the material I had already covered at MBC while obtaining my BA. It was a huge confidence booster to know that MBC's health care program had already built a solid knowledge base for me to achieve my career ambitions.”
Kimberly Renee Lockhart '96

a non-profit, continuing care retirement community. Kimberly recently obtained
her Nursing Home Administrator's license to expand her career opportunities
in the field of services for the aging.
"My Health Care Administration degree from Mary Baldwin prepared me for the daily challenges seen in the work place as a long term care administrator. As a full-time employee and full-time graduate student, Mary Baldwin's program gave me the foundation to be confident in the various professional roles that I play each day."
