Social Work
Social Work majors have a caring spirit and desire a meaningful career. At Mary Baldwin, you’ll learn alongside others with a passion for service and changing the world. Social work is among the fastest growing professions in the United States. The field offers career opportunities as well as the ability to help improve lives and benefit families, groups, organizations, and communities. With a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) you are ready for a professional position or for graduate study.
Students who major in social work earn the BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) degree, a minimum credential necessary for entry-level and generalist social work positions with governmental agencies and many nonprofits that serve their communities.
Social Work is a part of MBC's School of Education, Health, and Social Work and is available through the College for Women and Adult Degree Program in Staunton, Charlottesville, and Roanoke. Prospective students interested in the BSW should first apply and be admitted to either the Residential College for Women or the Adult Degree Program. Once enrolled, undergraduates who are interested in the program should complete the BSW Application.
Our BSW program is currently in candidacy status for accreditation. Students can pursue this major with the confidence that their BSW degree will be widely accepted and respected.
