Lysistrata by Aristophanes
Directed by Virginia Francisco '64
Only 25 centuries ago, Athens' great comic poet proposed one hilarious solution to two formidable problems: women's life role -- and war. Aristophanes' idea could work today, headed by a woman with Lysistrata's creativity, discipline, and skill in building coalitions. Every woman should see this play -- and bring a couple of guys. Not suitable for young children.

November 14-18, 2007

The Vic by Leanna Brodie
Directed by Clinton Johnston
A teenager confesses in her video blog: a mother and daughter try to care for the younger daughter after her escape form a cult; a bookish student struggles to hold a job; and a young film maker faces her idol ... for better or worse. Playwright Leanna Brodie deftly examines the roles of "victim" and "victimizer" in the lives of eight women in modern day Canada. Movies and cop shows talk about "the perp" -- what about "The Vic?"

February 8-10 and 13-17, 2008
The Sorcerer by Gilbert and Sullivan
Directed by Frank Southerington
His name is John Wellington Wells. He's a dealer in magic and spells. But when he spikes the villagers' tea with a love potion the results are disastrous ... and great fun. The Sorcerer is classic G&S.
