Studio Art

Graphic Design

Students with an emphasis in graphic design learn the fundamentals in a Mac Studio while exploring a variety of two and three-dimensional design projects. Introductory level students are introduced to the Adobe Creative Suite while exploring typography and image manipulation. Advanced level students pursue conceptually appropriate projects of their choosing. Students generate their own content and imagery while photographically documenting process and final products.

Upon completion of the design sequence students have a professional online presence, a competitive portfolio, an understanding of commercial printing, pre-press, job management and significant experience pitching and defending their own work. The senior project in graphic design is an opportunity for students to produce a self-directed, conceptually-related body of work. Senior project students are encouraged to explore specialized areas of design including motion design, packaging, branding, installation design, social campaigns, product design, iconography, event design and other conceptually vital disciplines of design.

Students graduating with an emphasis in graphic design are prepared to practice design professionally as junior designers or pursue graduate work.
