Summer Week 2008
June 22 ~ June 27
Summer Week Is Your Ideal Opportunity to:
- Experience the excitement of on-campus learning while spending quality
time with faculty and other adult students.
- Immerse yourself in a living/learning environment on-campus by registering
as a resident student, living in the residence halls or participate as
a commuter student if you prefer.
- Concentrate on a specific course.
- Earn credits toward your degree or teacher certification.
- Participate in special activities and social events as you enjoy Mary
Baldwin’s beautiful campus in historic Staunton.
- Earn graduate level credits by enrolling in one of two MAT courses being offered.
Tired of doing it all: working full-time (or part-time), taking care of
your house and family ... and pursuing your education? Why not
leave that daily routine and those domestic responsibilities behind for
six extraordinary days and spend some time with other adult learners this
summer in a collegial setting conducive to learning? The latest nationwide
trend in vacationing is the "learning vacation” and this is the
perfect opportunity to join other interesting adult students from around the
state in this special summer course option.
Program at a Glance
Begin your studies early in June, preparing for Summer Week
on campus. During Summer Week, you’ll spend about three to four
hours each day in class and another three to four hours (or
more!) studying and preparing for class together in a community designed
to help you create stronger bonds with your college and classmates. Then,
after the week (June 22-27) spent on campus, you’ll have until August
8th to complete the remaining course work online or via independent study
from home. NEW this year! You can also earn an additional 1/2 semester hour of credit
while having fun learning Folk Dance!
In Addition
Residential students enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch and
dinner provided in our gracious dining hall - imagine no cooking or cleaning
for a whole week! Daily social events, informal chats in the residence
halls, and some time to explore Staunton’s local attractions add
fun and festivities to the mix. With special outings planned to locations
that make Staunton a must-see tourist destination - as well as enjoyable
on-campus activities - you’ll want to return again and again to
MBC's Summer Week.
Summer Week has been great for me because I’ve
done all my previous studying while I worked at a full-time
occupation. The only thing I have to worry about this week is taking classes. That’s
wonderful to me!
