Ham and Jam Ham or Jam

Not quite an oddity as they are an institution, Ham and Jam have guarded the steps of the administration building since 1880. Modeled after Mary Julia Baldwin’s dog, Beauty, the statues were named after two important ingredients of Sunday night suppers. Over the years they have enjoyed various names such as Caesar and Pompey and Blucher and Wellington. But Ham and Jam were the names that stuck! The doggy duo often will mysteriously and spontaneously sport the senior class’ colors at the end of the academic year.
