Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC)
Mary Baldwin College's Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership (VWIL) boasts one of the top college ROTC programs for women. All VWIL cadets participate for four years in the ROTC program, although cadets
are not required to commission in the United States Armed Services. About
40% of the corps seek a commission. However, ROTC is an excellent leadership
development program regardless of your career objectives. You may choose Army, Navy, Marine
Corps or Air Force ROTC.
Classes are held weekly at the Virginia Military Institute; increasingly,
classes are being offered at Mary Baldwin. Uniforms and transportation are
provided to cadets by VWIL.
