Dr. Sara Nair James
Appointed Scholar in Residence at Gordon College Semester Abroad Program in Orvieto, Italy and Visiting Scholar at the American Academy in Rome, March -April 2014.
James used the archives in Orvieto and libraries in Rome to research the fourteenth century frescoes in the choir of the cathedral of Orvieto, the longest series of murals known that narrate the life of the Virgin Mary.

Professors Lundy Pentz and Sara James participated in the prestigious Summer Institute in Technical Art History at the Institute of Fine Arts and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Here they learned about the scientific techniques used in art conservation and interpretation of art objects. In the spring of 2013, they put to use what they had learned by offering a team-taught class in Technical Art History.
