For many, she has been not just a trusted advisor, but a shoulder to lean on and a surrogate mother. The college community took time out this week to say goodbye to MBC’s "nuttiest squirrel," Lynn Gilliland, who has accepted a new post in North Carolina.

It is the second year in a row the Southeast Chapter of the Association for Asian Studies has recognized the efforts of a Mary Baldwin student, underscoring yet again the strength of the college’s successful Asian studies program and its emphasis on undergraduate research.

Praised for its useful navigation, clear design, clean coding, and attention to detail, the MBC website was named among the top higher education websites in the country in 2011 by the popular blog EDU Checkup.

On Wednesday, Nasser Alsaadun shared his story with a group of Mary Baldwin College students during the program "My Journey from Iraq to Virginia after 9/11" as part of MBC’s Islam Awareness Week.

Del. Richard P. "Dickie" Bell, R-Staunton, and state Sen. Emmett Hanger, R-Mount Solon, have each submitted a budget amendment in their respective General Assembly chambers to restore the funding.

Black History Month Praise and Worship Service

Bishop Adam Jefferson Richardson, presiding prelate of the Second Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, will deliver a sermon at 4 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church as part of MBC's celebration of Black History Month. Performances by Anointed Voices of Praise Gospel Choir and Greater Things Dance Ministry. Co-sponsored by Christ Our Redeemer and Allen Chapel A.M.E churches. Lewis and Beverley Streets, Staunton.
