David Paulk, program director for the physician assistant program, presented a seminar on April 1, at Drexel University – Hahnemann Physician Assistant Program. His topic was Child Abuse and Neglect – Beyond the Bruises.

Ben Herz, program director for the doctor of occupational therapy program presented a seminar on March 1, 2014 at VCU on “ Occupational Therapy and the Essential Tremor”. In addition he has presented to the Charlottesville Parkinson’s Support Group (March 21) and most recently, (April 1-2) participated in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) National Program Directors meeting in Baltimore MD along with the AOTA Board of Directors. In his role as a board member, Dr. Herz does monthly Skype sessions with OT student classes across the nation. He recently talked to University of St. Augustine and University of Buffalo OT graduate students on ethics and the OT.

Lisa Shoaf, program director for the physical therapy program, attended the national Combined Sections Meeting of the American Physical Therapy Association in February in Las Vegas, NV. She was able to provide information about the developing DPT program and network with potential faculty, as well as participate in continuing education activities. Finally, she presented in March at the Virginia Physical Therapy’s Annual Retreat held at the Boar’s Head in Charlottesville on her current research entitled “Physical Therapy Direct Access Utilization Patterns in Virginia and Patient’s Satisfaction about the Physical Therapy Direct Access Care Provided.”
