Two Performances of Romeo and Juliet are scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on
Monday, February 7, 2011 and Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Blackfriars Playhouse, 10 S. Market Street, Staunton.
One of Shakespeare’s most well known and beloved plays, Romeo and Juliet tells the tale of young lovers whose relationship is complicated by the violence surrounding them. This show has everything from romance, to swordfights, to dirty jokes. There will also be men in dresses.
Staged with an all-male cast, this Renaissance-style performance is presented for completion of Shannon Schultz’s MFA in Shakespeare and Performance, with directing emphasis. Admission is free and open to the public for both performances. The shows begin at 8:00 p.m., but come a little early to catch the pre-show!
