Mary Baldwin College Students to Debate “Ethics and Social Media”
Five students from Mary Baldwin College will participate in The Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC) 14th annual statewide collegiate Wells Fargo Ethics Bowl on February 10–11, 2013, on the campus of Randolph College in Lynchburg. The Mary Baldwin team will compete head-to-head against other highly qualified student teams from Virginia’s 15 leading independent colleges and universities, debating a variety of case studies highlighting ethical dilemmas. The Mary Baldwin College student team members are: Danielle Guy, senior; Quiana Robinson, senior; Aubrey Sparks, senior; Katherine Broomfield, junior; and Christina Harris, junior.
Many notables from the business sector, law, education, finance, journalism, and other fields will listen to team presentations and offer reactions to the students’ presentations.
The Ethics Bowl program will commence with an opening session at 2:30 p.m. February 10 at Randolph College’s Wimberly Recital Hall, with the first matches scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Smith and Main halls. On February 11, rounds 3 and 4 will begin at 8:30 a.m. The final round of competition will take place at 11 a.m. in Wimberly Recital Hall. The public is invited to attend the match sessions free of charge. The winning team will be announced at 12:15 p.m. on Monday. The team from Hampden-Sydney College took home the trophy at the 2012 Ethics Bowl after defeating Sweet Briar College in the final round.
